17th day - Picnic at Edo castle

Hey everyone! Sorry for the late post!

On the 28th of September we went for a picnic with Niji-no-kai to Edo Castle.

Before meeting the members of Niji-no-kai to go to the castle we went to the nearby convenience store to pick up some food.

The entrance to the Edo Castle grounds - quite pretty
There were lots of Koi swimming around in the moat around the castle grounds

There were swans swimming along the moat

There were quite a lot of us that came so we took up a lot of space! We were going to play some sports on the grass but we unfortunately we weren't allowed to. Niji-no-Kai members had brought some tarpaulin to sit on so some of us sat on that and others sat on the grass to eat.

It was really nice to just sit down and talk and share our food together.

I bought some sushi, chocolate roll cake and some butter and soy sauce flavoured popcorn. I tried to choose something that I could share. The chocolate cake was really tasty and seemed to go down well with my friends too!

The sushi set was pretty tasty!

We were able to relax and talk for a while and some of the Niji-no-Kai members played with some poi on the grass.
After that we went up to where the castle used to be situated and took some photos! There were lots of school children around, probably on school trips!
We had to pose for ages as camera after camera were passed up to the person taking the photo. There must have been the same photo on at least 10 different cameras!

We then separated into two groups - one went for a longer tour around the Edo castle grounds while the other one went to play some sports.

Amy, Zoe and I went with the group that were going to play sports thinking we could watch. It seemed as though the park we were going to go to was really close but in the end it was quite far away.

We got to the park but unfortunately Zoe and I were feeling a bit under the weather so we decided to head off back home.

On the way back to the station there were so many girls lined up for something! There were so many of them they had to be herded in groups across the road!

We never did work out what it was that they were waiting for! I suppose it will always remain a mystery!
