Day 67 - Day out in Yokohama!

Hey everyone,
hope you are well!

Last Sunday (November 17th) I went to Yokohama!

We met at Nihonbashi station and then made our way to Yokohama by train.

On our way out of Yokohama station we saw a shop selling these cute cakes with little pandas in the middle!

After some careful deliberation over which flavour to get we finally settled on sharing a green tea one!

We left the station and had a little walk around Yokohama. Even though it was November it was pretty warm and the sky was a clear blue! It was such a lovely day to be out!

We came across a square with trees covered in momiji (red leaves of the season) it was really pretty. Lots of the leaves had already fallen to the ground and created a golden carpet on the ground that shifted with the wind. It was such a nice atmosphere!

We found somewhere to sit in the plaza and shared the cake. I was kindly offered the half with the panda on top! The cake was so good, the sponge was really soft. It didn't have a particularly strong matcha (green tea) flavour but the taste was good. It was, of course, made all the better by having the cute little panda sponge in the middle.

After eating we explored the area a bit more and then entered a Game Center.
K had a go on a UFO catcher and won on the first turn! I was impressed! He won a cute baby Winnie the Pooh plushie and gave it to me! So sweet!

We then played a round of Mario Kart! We didn't connect the games but that just meant we were both able to come in at first place! No bruised egos!

K then suggested we take some purikura. I was glad he did because I was really hoping to take some but thought it might be too embarrassing! I just love purikura too much!

The machine was called BF love & Fashion. This machine was special for pairs. There was a setting for couples, two girls and two boys. You could input your names and it made special stamps for you to use on the decorating stage. There were special settings and stamps for pairs of boys called "men's" which was pretty funny!
Taking purikura together was fun, I'm glad we got to!

After the Game Center we went on the Cosmo Clock 21 (観覧車). The Cosmo Clock 21 is a giant Ferris Wheel. When it opened it was the biggest Ferris Wheel in the world! It even functions as the world'a largest clock at night!

The view was really great. It was perfect weather to watch the view from the capsule except for the strong winds. In fact the wheel had to stop momentarily as the winds were too strong!

It was really fun, and the view was so good. Especially the view of the sea! Unfortunately I don't think my pictures do it justice but I was enjoying myself too much to worry about the photos! Well, that and being mildly terrified of the winds!

After riding the Ferris Wheel we walked over to the building above and bought some lunch. We had curry bread, they had a special Christmas edition curry bread so I tried that one. I know what you are thinking, it is too early for Christmas. Yes, yes, I agree it is pretty early to start the Christmas celebrations but as soon as Halloween had ended Christmas decorations and products started popping up!

While we were eating we saw a man with a rabbit walking around the plaza. It was so cute! The rabbit was just like a dog! It was following its owner around even though it didn't have a leash! Not surprisingly many girls were cooing over the fluffy friend and taking turns to hold it.
It was really nice just talking and watching people go by.

Next we went to a department store (the tall building pictured in the background above).

At the top of the department store they had a viewing gallery - this seems to be a recurring theme in tall department stores - which we went up to.

The viewing level also had a mini Disney exhibition where you could listen to lots of different Disney songs. So we had a look around the exhibition too!

When we went up it was still bright. I have really been enjoying seeing the views from all the different observation areas. Yokohama had very different feel to Tokyo and it was really good to get a view of the sea!

It turned dark pretty quickly! I had such a good time just talking and looking at the amazing view.
When it turned dark the Ferris Wheel put on a light display, at some points it turns into a clock face and tells the time! During the day it displayed the time in the center in a digital setting.

The views were really pretty - unfortunately my photos don't quite reflect that! - Sorry! -

When we had taken in our fill of the view we went back down to the department store and had a look at Yokohama's Pokemon center and a shop that sold Ghibli goods which was so cute!
Sorry I didn't take any photos of the Pokemon center or the other shop! But fear not! I will most definitely go to the Pokemon center in Tokyo and visit the other shop again sometime!

We had dinner at K's house which was really nice. We had salad, soup and a macaroni pasta bake which was really tasty!

It was a really great day! I had so much fun!

I'm looking forward to the next day out!

Well, so long for now!
