Day 37 - Halloween cakes, Hamburgers and Bubble tea with friends!

Hey everyone!
Hope all is good!

October 18th was a pretty naughty food day so be prepared to salivate!
After classes Amy, Shereen and I went on a hunt around campus for the Niji-no-Kai lounge so that we could pay for the tickets to the impending Halloween party!

We were struggling to find it and ended up near the really nice cake shop that I mentioned in a previous post. Shereen hadn't been there before so, of course, we just had to show her.
Unsurprisingly, we all ended up leaving with a cake!

We eventually managed to find the Niji-no-kai lounge. After that we made our way to the WIC lounge to dive into our cakes!

Both Amy and I chose the Halloween themed cake!
There were, as usual, lots of gorgeous looking cakes to choose from but of course the only valid choice was the Halloween cake!

The cake comes in a box with an ice pack to keep it nice and fresh!

The cake was not only beautiful but it was delicious too.
I really liked how detailed the design was, it was so fun!

The decoration was a pumpkin flavoured light-orange dusting with a chocolate cat and moon resting on some whipped cream. The moon was yellow-coloured white chocolate with a sprinkling of edible gold glitter. There were little chocolate pieces arranged in two paw prints and a pumpkin seed for the finishing touches!

Underneath all this was a pumpkin pudding, which was a kind of pumpkin flavoured Crème brûlée.
It was really tasty and after we were finished we were both left with cute little pumpkin bowls.

Later that evening a group of us went to go have dinner together!

On the way to find a restaurant we saw this My Melody Cafe, it looked so cute, but there was a huge queue of people outside waiting to go in so we decided to keep looking.

To the side of the restaurant was this little area where you could take photos with the characters, there were even cute little rabbit-ear headbands in a basket that you could borrow for the picture!

If you are scared of spiders then you may want to not look at the next photo!

While looking for a restaurant we saw this monster of a spider! It might not look so bad in the photo but it was certainly a beast!

After some more walking we finally decided on a hamburger restaurant.

At the front of the restaurant they had food model as is usual in Japan. One of them was of a huge birthday hamburger that they serve!

Any one fancy some Gas water?
We managed to find some Engrish on the menu! Sparkling water was called Gas water instead, much more appetising, no?

The restaurant was designed kind of like and American diner. It was quite nicely done!

The restaurant staff busy at work!
My yummy papaya juice
My burger!
Along with quite a few of the others I chose the cheese teriyaki burger. It was soo tasty and came with chips and a gherkin!

The restaurant provided little packets to put the burger in so you could eat it without it falling apart or making a mess!

It was fun going as a big group and there were some people I hadn't met before. It was nice talking over food and I'm glad I got to meet some new people!

Food models!
What was pretty useful was that the restaurant had models of the different sizes of burger. Sometimes it can be difficult decided which size to choose at restaurants because of course sizes vary greatly depending on where you are eating. So having an exact model of the different sizes meant that it was much easier to decide!

After the restaurant Evelyn and Stephanie took us to a Taiwanese Bubble tea restaurant. She told us that this was her favorite one back home and that the tea was really good here.
Bubble tea, also known as pearl (milk) tea or Boba tea is a beverage -usually milk tea- with tapioca balls at the bottom. The classic flavour is milk tea however in some bubble tea restaurants there are 10's of different flavours!

Although some people may be adverse to tapioca, I must say I love the stuff. Pearl teas are one of my favorite drinks. I just love the chewy texture and malty taste of the tapioca at the bottom!
My hot pearl milk tea
Unlike some of the places that sell pearl milk tea in London this cafe did not have many different flavours to choose from.

I went for the hot pearl milk tea as I didn't think I had tried a hot version before and was curious as to how it would be.

I must say I was not disappointed. It was one of the nicest teas I have had. The flavour of the tea was really full and warm. I would definitely go back and was glad Evelyn and Stephanie introduced us to this place!

This place even had tapioca Jasmine tea!

They had coasters with different designs! There was some scrabbling over the cuter designs!
The cafe had quite a nice atmosphere

After the cafe we had a short walk around the area where we saw some pretty decorations and then made our way home.

It was a really nice night and I'm glad Evelyn invited us all! I hope we can do something again soon!

Well, that's all for now!

See you next time!
